Also includes photocopy of an entry from his book, Journals, 1939-1983, which contains a brief mention of having worked on this play. In addition, clippings of reviews of Spender's later works, and articles written about him shortly after his death.

Sir Stephen Harold Spender (February 28, 1909 - July 16, 1995) was an English poet and novelist who worked with the themes of social injustice and class struggle. Spender was born in London and educated at University College, Oxford. He was mentored by W. H. Auden with whom he maintained a life-long friendship.
